Education Commission will focus on:

  • Launching a capacity building project and network of secondary school teachers and teacher educators in utilising ICT in technology enhanced teaching and learning through;
  • Developing and adapting a sustainable model for supporting research-based professional development of teachers and teacher educators;
  • Building capacity of teachers and schools to use innovatively new ICTs in teaching and learning in local knowledge and innovation competence labs of teachers by blending work of teachers, learning of students and teachers with innovations; and
  • Initiating a support network for these emerging developmental communities to communicate and share experiences and resources with each other and with a virtual resource support centre for the SADC region.

During WITFOR the participants will be familiarised with the model using a successful experiment carried out in Mauritius and the pilot project plan to be developed for Botswana.

There will be a two-day workshop immediately after the WITFOR to kick off the Botswana pilot project and to initiate the project planning in other SADC countries willing to join in.
