Project 1 - Capacity Building for Accelerated Development
Title: ISESS Workshop on Environmental Information Systems in Africa
Purpose: To support development through scientific knowledge transfer and capacity building
Description: WG 5.11's conference series ISESS (International Symposium on Environmental Software Systems) is an international event which has been organised since 1995 in the following countries: Austria (3 times), Canada (2 times), New Zealand , United States (2 times). Specific joint workshops were also held in Australia and Germany . ISESS publishes through IFIP as well as through the renowned journal Environmental Modelling and Software (EM&S) with Elsevier. The proposal is to bring ISESS to Africa , in a collaboration with local partners, in 2006 or after.
