People
The population of 1.736 million (2002) includes several ethnic groups, dominated by those who are Setswana-speaking, all of which are known as Batswana. About 80 percent of the people live in the eastern regions of the country.
Setswana is the national language, while English is the official medium used in business and most government affairs.
